The Three-Body Problem Trilogy Folio Society Limited Edition Review

$ 825.00

Our Three-Body Problem Folio Society limited edition review: 750 copies, Matt Griffin’s art, build, Reddit reactions and the $825 price.

Category:  |  Franchise:

Full disclosure: I haven’t had the Three-Body Problem Folio Society limited edition on my own shelf yet, so this review leans on Folio’s published specs and owner reports. A 750-copy, 1,344-page omnibus signed by Liu Cixin and Matt Griffin deserves a hard look at its $825 price tag.

Quick verdict: gorgeous art, signatures and a showpiece clamshell, but one very thick volume that some collectors struggle to justify. Buy it for the craft.

What is the Three-Body Problem Folio Society limited edition?

It is a 750-copy edition of Liu Cixin’s Remembrance of Earth’s Past, launched on September 8, 2026 under Folio’s own title. The limitation label is signed by Liu and illustrator Matt Griffin.

What comes in the box besides the book?

The clamshell case is wrapped in holographic foil blocked cloth and lined with copper holographic paper. According to SciFi Now, that lining shows three-body simulations Griffin made with an MIT program.

Griffin delivers 15 color illustrations, three of them double-page spreads, plus black and white part-title spreads. If you loved his Rendezvous with Rama for Folio, you already know his style.

How is it built, and how does it read?

Printed cloth and blocked lettering by Steve O Connell sound refined, though not as lavish as leather. Our Book of the New Sun two-volume edition review covers the same publisher.

A 1,344-page book at that size raises gutter and wrist-strain questions I can’t answer yet. One owner on r/foliosociety found it smaller and lighter than expected, while a LibraryThing thread mentions thin paper with pinched creases on one copy.

What do Reddit collectors say about the price and format?

Opinions split between art and format. A poster in r/threebodyproblem called the art, box and binding remarkable, while one commenter in the store page thread found the single volume unappealing and the price steep.

Plenty of collectors wanted three volumes. A regular Folio edition has since been announced, so readers who mostly want the text may prefer to wait. The owner thread is worth reading.

Is the Three-Body Problem Folio Society limited edition worth $825?

Folio’s US store lists it at $825 as of October 17, 2026, while launch coverage quoted £550 or $780. Our Wasp Factory limited edition review covers another Folio limited edition.

Buy it if signatures and Griffin’s art outweigh portability. If Netflix’s adaptation brought you to Liu Cixin, a cheaper copy is smarter, and our Stranger Things deluxe edition review shows another way to collect.

Our take

What I love most about the Three-Body Problem Folio Society limited edition is Griffin’s art, the holographic clamshell and a signed label on only 750 copies. My score: 8/10 for craft, 6/10 for value at $825.

It suits Folio limited edition fans and Liu Cixin devotees. Sci-fi shelves might also welcome our Complete Kubrick Criterion set or the Star Trek SteelBook library case. It is sold through The Folio Society’s website. Would you have preferred three volumes? Tell me what you’d recommend or missed.
